Basics of TW

Because launching TW (short for eratohoTW) for the first time can be quite overwhelming, here's a small guide to help you with the interface.

Starting a new game

{width=1167 height=690} To start, it's advised to go take a look into the [Options] section and then into [-88] Fetish settings (only for NAS) for those that are interested in niche fetishes/contents. A lot of additional content isn't toggled on by default, so, if you don't seek an experience too different from Pedy or Anon version (aka Vanilla), you can safely ignore it.

Once everything is set up, click on [0] Start Game. Follow the indications and everything will go smoothly.

New Game Settings

Don't think too much about which map you choose to live in, you can easily change it later.

[0]: Takes you back to the character creator if you wish to change something about them.

[1]: (Toggles: Sex) Allows you to modify your penis to one of these six sizes

[2]: Switch to a different costume. Note that the "Naked" option doesn't work for now.

[3]: Incompetent and Lust mode toggles. Turning on incompetent mode means you can't confess; however other girls will be more likely to push you down and confess to you. Lust mode keeps these positives while still allowing you to confess and initiate sex.

[4]: Peasant mode toggle, an explanation is given when clicking.

[5]: Change your home choice and room if there's multiple.

[10] and [11]: Lets you modify all Touhous in one go. Want everyone to be a slut? You can with this. Prefer to have an entire world of virgins or traps? You can too.

eraNAS Exclusive Settings

[12]: (Toggles: Lethal combat, weapons) POSTAL mode toggle

Changes how armed Gensokyo should be. There are six main settings for POSTAL mode:

• Libermode - No weapons, no fights. Intended as a toggle if you don't want combat or weapons
• Normal - Some Touhous may have weapons and fights can happen between opposing factions and between Touhous with low relationships.
• Hestonworld - Touhous will have low-level weapons and armor.
• Insane-o - Touhous will have high level weapons and armor
• They Hate Me - Insane-0 + All Touhous want to kill you, no cooldown for raids.
• POSTAL - They Hate Me + Touhous are hostile to each other, all factions are hostile to each-other and non-members, no cooldown for raids, any Touhou that dies will be resurrected in the next day

[13]: (Toggles: Death) Permadeath settings

• All Respawn - All characters will respawn on the next day
• Normal - Most characters that die will stay dead, but some characters will respawn automatically if they're a God or ghost. Manual resurrection such as with an Elixir is possible.
• No Respawn - Characters will never respawn on their own. They must be resurrected manually
• Permadeath - Any character that dies cannot be resurrected by any means.

[20]: Click on this to choose one of the starting bonuses. You can choose "None" if you don't want any.

• ¥50,000 - Starts you out with a lump sum of cash.
• Increased Relationships - Gives 500 favor and makes Touhous of the same race easier to impregnate.
• Stone of Mirada - Gives you a Stone of Mirada which allows Lust-based relationships to grow faster, some sex toys, and 500 TSP to start instead of 100 TSP.

ATW/NAS Only

• (NAS/ATW) Red Thread - Gives a chance to increase your [Affinity] with your partner during a date. Affinity is something that will be covered in a different page, but to sum it up, it affects gain of positive PALAMs and gems.
• (NAS/ATW) Unmatched - When ejaculating, the amount of ejaculation is doubled, STA and ENE cost is removed. Requires a penis obviously, else this will just act like 'None'
• (NAS/ATW) Fast Learner - Increases rate of gaining sex skills. In NAS this also increases non-H skills, however this is only obtainable when starting New Game+
• (NAS/ATW) Mysterious Charm - Easier to execute most commands, bonus to effect, and the amount of Favor increase is greater.
• (NAS/ATW) Basic Combat Ability - Gives you some basic Danmaku (and if in NAS), Shooting, and Melee skills to help in combat. Also gives the corresponding Danmaku Youjutsu.

Neodev/ATW Only

• (ATW) Almighty Impregnation - Max pregnancy resistance is now 2000 If it's higher than 2000 (everyone but regular Youkai and Humans).

NAS Only

• (NAS) Whereabouts Sense - Allows you to sense what characters are in the area and allows you to directly go to them. Best for new players.
• (NAS) Starship - Gives you a starship item which allows for instant traveling between spaces, as well as the ability to go to the moon without learning flight. Also gives you Spacer technical knowledge.
• (NAS, Body Part System) Prude Harmonizer - Negates the effects of the [Reserved] talent on all characters.

[100]: Ends the new-game initialization and allows you to start playing.

Before Day Menu

Every time you go to sleep or load a save, you will end up on this screen. Before doing anything else, you should click on [420] Tutorial, it will provide you valuable information, especially on NAS specific features. Next up, look at [400] Options, you may want to change some things.

You can discover by yourself the other commands while playing. The one you should check as soon as possible is [150] Achievements. Completing achievements can unlock you game changing bonuses.

Once you feel ready, click on [100] Wake up to start the day.

Interface

The main screen is divided into three main parts:

The first part is where you can see your stats (STA/ENE/TSP/MP), the date and time of the day, the cleanliness, the weather, the temperature and the Time-Stop button. Once you are in the same room as a character, you will also see their stats, their mood, their equipped clothes/gears in addition to their portrait.

The second part, named "Actions", in the middle, let you interact with the world and characters when there are in the same room as you.

Command Filters

Next up are the command filters. NAS and ATW have variations of this bar depending on your talents.

This is the basic bar you have after creating a character who's knowledgeable about sex.

This is the bar after getting Forbidden Knowledge and the E-Stim control box. Note the new [U] button for urethral sex and [E-Stim] for electrostimulation

This is the bar if you started off with a sexually ignorant character. As you aren't knowledgeable enough to know what sex is, most sex commands cannot be done.

Each Action command is linked to one of them. Disabling a filter will make the commands linked to it disappear from the screen.

[V]=[A]=[U]=[Rev Sex]=[SM]=[E-Stim]=[Hyp]=[Service]=[Rev Ser.]

These ones will only give valid commands while having sex most of the time.

[Masturb.]

Short for Masturbation. Pretty self-explanatory.

[Petting]

May looks innocent, but commands here will make the character you use it on pissed off, depending on their affection level, because if someone you barely know starts touching you, you will obviously not like it.

[Hostile]

Mostly used for those that play with violence and such activated. Toggles commands for execution and starting fights.

The last part has more general commands. [400] Move is the one you will use to go from a place to another, [405] Go Out for when you want to leave your map and [403] Abilities if you want to check the Talents, Abilities and other valuable information about the character(s) you're in the room with.

With a Touhou

Here's what the screen looks like while being in the same place as Ruukoto.

You can see that some "Action" commands got added, now that a target is available.

PALAMs are one of the main factors that contribute to your level of relationship with characters. Learning about it is advised but not necessary.

Now, the most important:

If you want to have an enjoyable first experience, you should take your time. eraNAS is a life simulation, not a realistic one obviously, but still. There are a lot of things you can do, and feeling overwhelmed isn't surprising. Start small: Just talk with Touhous, serve them tea, explore your map, look at what actions are available in each location, etc... Exactly like for your character, it's a new world to explore and discover for you, and it doesn't happen in one day.

Grinding your stats to win Danmaku against Reimu or Hecatia, making millions of Yen, having sex with 8 Touhous at the same time, getting so much TSP and MP that you can get goddesses pregnant while they're not even conscious of it... These things will come naturally.

There's no use to dive straight into foraging, mixing, or faction stuff if you don't need it yet, so don't hesitate to let these kinds of things aside until you finish mastering the basics.
